On January 6th, I had the opportunity to host the International Welcome at the University of British Columbia (UBC). The event serves as an orientation for new incoming international students. The program consists of campus tours, a resource fair, affinity groups, and workshop sessions that inform students of critical resources that enable student success on campus. The program closed with dinner, and entertainment which is what you see above.

I enjoyed my visit back to UW-Bothell. It’s always amazing to see the transition students make each year for the better. During my visit I was inspired by those who continue to persevere through extreme hardships. While I was visiting the Food for Thought Cafe, I came across a student I met during the summer and decided to engage in a conversation to see how they were doing.  The student expressed that he was going through a financial hardship and dealing with food insecurity. I took the student to the Husky Pantry (a pantry with food and resources opened to all students) located at the student housing Community Center. I am thankful to the student for sharing this concern with me and admire his perseverance. I also greatly appreciate all of the students who worked hard to collect donations for the pantry and who continue to contribute to the cause.

Put me in Coach!

Three days after moving to Vancouver B.C. I flew out to Ottawa, Ontario to attend the Fulbright orientation. The weekend was full of exciting events, I even got the chance to ice skate for the very first time!
